Block 1 – Week 3
Up until Thursday evening, I felt on top of the world. During my long run, I swallowed a fly (common hazard for runners and not very vegan) and since then I’ve been pretty sick. I guess, given the lifestyle habits of a fly, a connection between said ingestion and shaking legs, fever and general uuurggghiness is entirely plausible.
Anyway, the top and bottom of this is that Saturday’s run was cancelled (I was in bed) and right now today’s is looking unlikely. Just as well that this is a step-back week and I’m supposed to be cutting my mileage in half.
The other thing which will impact on the schedule this week is a trip to Brighton and London on Wednesday / Thursday, so I’m trying to work my mileage around those days.

Friday
Been blighted this week. It’s a god job it’s a step back week and I didn’t lose too much mileage.
The problems started last Thursday when I first started feeling sick and I haven’t run since. I was in bed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, still recovering, though back at work on Tuesday and in Brighton and London for work on Wednesday and Thursday.
Today has been my first opportunity to lace up the trainers and despite being a very slow and easy run, it was a JOY to get back out again. I’m hoping to get a second run in at the end of the day.
Ah well, never mind. Feeling fully recovered now and it’s back to the proper mileage again next week.

Saturday
Another gentle run (getting a little frustrated with all the slow running, but only two more weeks before I can start to add some quality sessions.
Lovely sunny afternoon made this one very enjoyable, but feeling all the missed runs this week have had an impact on my training curve. Heart rate was a touch higher than it should have been and took me (just) into marathon pace. But I guess it can’t be helped.
