Targets. Generally, other than runs per week, I try to avoid setting many these days. My PB days are behind me (in terms of pace), but I do have one for this year.
Since having a fitness watch, the highest I can remember seeing my VO2max is 49. After time off following the calf injury and then Covid, it’s currently stuck at 46. Once I get some more general running miles under my belt, I want to add some more quality sessions (hills and intervals) with that objective front of mind.
It gives me a goal and goals are great for motivation. It may be optimistic, because at the time it was 49, I think my Strava fitness score was nudging 150 and that score is currently 45.
