Morning run πββοΈ
Today was speed intervals and I have to admit, the thought did create a little anxiety. Iβve not really done any βqualityβ sessions for quite a while and with the Garmin programme prescribing the target range (e.g. 6:28 - 6:48 pace for first six and then 5:28 - 5:48 for second six), I figured this would be challenging.
Also, where I live, itβs nigh on impossible to start any run on the flat, so I knew my warm up would be a climb. I aimed to keep this really slow and put no strain on the heart at all.
The first six were all pretty good. One was slightly too slow and the others a little too quick, but Iβll get accustomed to the correct pace with a little more practice
6:29 | 6:52 | 6:31 | 6:10 | 6:20 | 6:34
The second six, on the other hand, were all out of range (too slow). I now know that I need to work on speed. Kidding: I knew before I put on the trainers.
6:31 | 6:48 | 6:39 | 6:44 | 6:35 | 6:26
Despite the fact that Garmin gave me a 22% execution score, I feel broadly pleased with this - as a first attempt. But looking at my heart rate during the longer and shorter intervals, I could go quicker. That's encouraging as it implies I need to improve technique and leg strength.
